I have been tweeting for 9 years now. There are barely a few days in these nine years I haven’t tweeted. Today I came across a small video clip where a lady sitting with microphone speaks, “Ae Baini tapai kura sunne ki kere guff ma busy hune, Tapai nasunne bhae jana saknuhunchha”. She further added, “I am not here to listen you, you are here to listen me.” in an irritated tone. She is addressing a youth leadership and motivational conference where youths in their 20s are there to learn something.
This clip is all over the internet and I do not have mere knowledge of who the irritated speaker is. Turned out, she is a member of parliament. A young lady in such a responsible position, is expected to be compassionate and warm-hearted. She could be a role model for so many youths. She, is the representation of our hopes in such a place where there are only “men in grey.” The stage (Parliament) where she is in, is a place where politicians start their career in the age when normal people retire. She is a small ray of hope where youths like her are represented in the parliament.
I do follow politics sometimes but then I do not follow politicians much. I wanted to write this so seriously because we have been advocating for youths in parliament or leadership whatsoever. Are youth really the change makers? On the other hand, does youth necessarily contribute if given opportunity? I doubt it. I doubt because few youths like her who get to represent the people has further strengthened my doubt.
If twitter followers would matter, I have more followers than her. I am not a celebrity, just a mere user who tweets random stuffs going around. But gaining a few followers also makes me think twice before I write. I delete if my opinion harms. I am also short-tempered but then I need to pace down my temper while tweeting a few words. I wrote this deleting a few times and rewriting it so that it won’t hurt anybody. I am not saying that everyone must be like me. Everybody has their own responsibilities to fulfill. But if you are representing the huge mass of the population, you need to learn to handle them. You have to be calm to represent the voice of people. Yes, people are angry with the system and it’s not personal. We know it very well. My request is please think twice before you express because people count on you. Your voice matters. If you cannot reply it well just smile as a smile is the only curve that fixes everything straight.
So, Why such anger and frustrations? Why do we suffer? Lord Buddha left the palace to search why do people suffer. We cannot do that. Well, we don’t have a palace and we have responsibilities to fulfill. Courageously if we do so, there are surveillances all over, one day or another they will find us and make us return before we find the meaning of happiness and reason to suffer. We are frustrated, the whole generation is. Everybody is waiting for the visa to arrive so that they can leave this country and can fulfill their own dreams. Why? Because of the political people who have shown time and again their inefficiency. The whole world is facing Corona crisis and these people on the leadership are playing musical chair for the power and position. And youths like Nabina, whose name suggests modern/new, behave like the traditional old professor lecturing the boring chapters, creating more pessimism towards politics.
If you cannot create a better space please do not destroy further, so that somebody who will come in the future will have to waste all time and energy to rebuild what you have destroyed rather than creating a better space. This is the idea today’s politicians must follow. Otherwise, the chaos will never end in this land and the only thing we could do is pray Pashupatinath for the welfare of the country.
Enjoyed.
